War.Direct is a free, independent app — not distributed through the Apple App Store. Because it's not from the App Store, macOS will show a security warning the first time you open it. This is normal for any independently distributed Mac app.
1
Download and open the .dmg file, then drag War.Direct into your Applications folder
2
Double-click to open — macOS will say "War.Direct can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software"
3
Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security
4
Scroll down — you'll see "War.Direct was blocked". Click Open Anyway
5
Enter your password when prompted. That's it — the app will open normally from now on
We're an independent conflict tracker co-built by a journalist and AI. We don't collect personal data, and the app is entirely free. We chose not to use the App Store so we can ship updates instantly during fast-moving events — no review delays, no gatekeepers.
